More people suffer from back pain than any other “pain” in the world. As a matter of fact, of all those that suffer back pain, those that complain to having lower back pain far exceeds any that complain of any other type of back pain. It’s believed that more than 75% of back pain afflictions are those of the lower back.

As it’s known, the lower back, for the most part, carries the blunt of our weight, due to its purpose of balance and the difference in size from our upper bodies than our lower. The following information is to help as some of the most common lower back pain remedies.

1. Apply colds suppressors to decrease the pain and swelling.

2. Apply heat from pads, towels, or baths, once initial pain lessens.

3. Consult a physician to determine your next steps.

It’s common knowledge for most, if not all, people that to reduce pain and swelling to any pain or injury is to apply cold suppressors, or even ice, to the pained area. The first thing this will do is numb the area and cause comfort, or at least, make the pain more tolerable. The cold will also reduce the swelling which will also help to decrease the pain.

Because of the danger of frostbite, it’s believed that contact with such cold items should only be used about 3 to 4 times a day, for 15 to 20 minutes at a time, to discourage freezing. This, of all lower back pain remedies, should be the first step toward relief and should prepare you for the second step.

By this time, the swelling should have gone down a substantial amount. The pain, too, should have gone from extreme to somewhat tolerable. If it hasn’t, consult a physician right away. If it has, though, then you’re ready for phase two. Now, you can apply a heat source to help soothe the pain and keep the pain at tolerable levels.

Of all lower back therapies, this seems to be the favorite. You can always use a heating pad, or a warm, damp towel, but most people prefer to take a nice, steamy bath. This will, one, open the pores to let the heat soak right into the pain.

Considering baths, can we think of anything else more soothing, besides a hot tub, or sauna? Anyway, like cold compressors, only do this for about 15 to 20 minutes a day and for no more than 3 to 4 times in a day.

After a week or so, if your back hasn’t returned to normal, then it’s time to call a physician. The physician can check to see the origins of the pain, whether it’s just muscle related, bone related, or nerve related.

After you’ve been diagnosed, the physician can prescribe you medication if any is necessary and refer you to a physical therapist that will help you construct a workout routine that will help to heal your ailment. These, as stated, are some of the easiest of all lower back pain remedies.
