What if all we had was back pain and nothing else to relieve it? Supposing we didn’t have the money to buy the OTC drugs, the herbal supplements and to pay for a physical therapist, an acupuncturist or a chiropractor?

Well, in case we do get into a tight fix, we really shouldn’t worry too much, because there are available home back pain remedies we can resort to.

You don’t have to suffer in silence with your back aches because right in your own home, there are basic pain relieving materials that possess the same qualities or properties of the drug medications you pay for.

Let’s have a closer look at them so you will know what to do or look for if in case the worst case scenario happens. Know what home back pain remedies are available right in your own pantry or in your own backyard:

1. Garlic

Extract garlic oil by frying around ten cloves of garlic using 60 ml of oil, until the cloves become brown; make sure to setĀ  it at low fire to allow for proper oil extraction. The resulting extract becomes a rubefacient oil, which produces a warming but reddening effect on the affected skin and has been proven to relieve muscle pain. Other organic materials from which you can extract rubefacient oil are mustard seeds, sesame seeds and coconut milk.

Once the garlic oil has cooled down, ask someone to apply the oil extract vigorously on your back and let it stay there for about three hours. Wash and rinse off the extract after the three hours is up by using warm water for your bath. Do this forĀ  15 consecutive days. You may also take two to three garlic cloves as natural pain relief supplement every morning.

2. Lemon

Squeeze out the juice of a lemon and mix it with common salt. Take this mixture twice daily as your home back pain remedies.

3. Potato

Make a poultice out of raw potato by cutting 2 peeled potatoes into 1 inch cubes. Boil the cubes until they can be thoroughly mashed. Wrap the mashed substance in a thick gauze or cheese cloth while the poultice is still warm. Re-wrap in another cheese cloth or gauze and apply the poultice like a heated pad on your aching back. Do this until the heat wears off. The use of this home back pain relief is said to date back to ancient times.

4. Epsom Salt

Dissolve and mix 2 cups of Epsom salt in your warm water bath and soak in it for about 30 minutes. You can find pain relief as the Epsom salt has the ability to ease inflammation or swelling.

5. Rice

Make a heating pad out of uncooked rice by filling an old white sock with 1 cup of it. Heat it in a microwave oven for about 30 minutes or until it has reached a desired warmth. Use it just like a hot compress or heating pad.

6. Hot Water Bottle

If you don’t have any of the organic or natural materials enumerated above, then simply fill a medium sized bottle with hot water, although not too hot because the bottle might break from the intense heat.

The home back pain remedies above just goes to prove that there is no lack of treatment for back pain. You can also find ways to avoid your back pain from recurring by keeping your diet in check.
